OpenAI is Reportedly Working on a Social Media Platform

OpenAI is reportedly developing its own social media network, similar to X, according to a new report from The Verge. Currently in early development, the internal prototype emphasizes ChatGPT's image generation capabilities and features a social feed. It's unclear whether this platform will be a standalone app or integrated into the existing ChatGPT app.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has reportedly been privately asking outsiders for feedback about the social network.

Fintech Mercury Lands $300M in Sequoia-led Series C

Digital banking startup Mercury has raised $300 million in Series C funding, achieving a $3.5 billion valuation, more than double its 2021 valuation. Led by Sequoia and other investors, this round brings Mercury's total funding to $500 million. The company reported $500 million in revenue in 2024 and serves over 200,000 customers with strong year-over-year growth.

Later this year, Mercury plans to launch a consumer banking product that it first announced in April 2024. Mercury is expanding by launching a consumer banking product and plans to grow its team from 850 to over 1,000 employees.

Figma vs. Lovable: Controversy Over 'Dev Mode' Trademark

Following the ongoing legal clash between Deel and Rippling, Figma—a leading design tool platform—has sent a cease and desist letter to the creators of Lovable, a rival software product. The dispute centers on Lovable's use of the term "Dev Mode," which Figma asserts is a trademarked term.

Lovable’s co-founder and CEO, Anton Osika, tells TechCrunch that, for now, his company has no intention of honoring Figma’s demand and changing the feature’s name.
