Microsoft is shutting down Skype in favor of Teams

Microsoft is officially retiring Skype on May 5, 2025, and transitioning users to Microsoft Teams, which will now be the primary platform for consumer communication. Users can migrate their chat history and contacts or export data within 60 days. Skype will stop supporting calls, and while existing credits remain valid, no new paid features will be added. This change aligns with evolving consumer preferences and competition. Microsoft aims for a smooth transition without job cuts.

USF Launches AI & Cybersecurity College with $40M Bellini Donation

The University of South Florida (USF) has received a historic $40 million gift from Arnie and Lauren Bellini to establish the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Computing. This is the largest donation in USF’s history and the first named college in the U.S. dedicated to the convergence of AI and cybersecurity. The initiative positions Tampa as a national leader in digital security, reinforcing its emerging identity as "Cyber Bay."
