Over 40,000 attendees showed up for 1,020 events in the city as part of New York Tech Week, the decentralized tech conference that’s organized by a16z. Katia Ameri from a16z claims that at NY Tech Week, 54% of events were explicitly AI focused.

OpenAI Cuts Ties with Scale AI Amid Meta’s $14.3B Deal

OpenAI is ending its partnership with Scale AI after Meta acquired a 49% non-voting stake in the startup for $14.3 billion. The deal, which also brings Scale CEO Alexandr Wang into Meta’s AI leadership, has raised concerns about neutrality and client data protection. OpenAI, already seeking more specialized providers, accelerated its exit following the announcement. Google is reportedly considering the same move.

6-month-old, bootstrapped Base44 sells to Wix for $80M cash

Israeli developer Maor Shlomo has sold his six-month-old startup, Base44, to Wix for $80 million in a cash deal, according to an announcement from Wix on Wednesday. While the company was bootstrapped and relatively early-stage, it included a team of eight employees. Wix stated that $25 million of the total acquisition amount is allocated as a retention package for the team, though the company did not disclose the specific terms or duration required for payout eligibility.

🎤 June 6 – Pitch Competition + High-Energy Networking

An evening packed with startup momentum: five founders pitched to investors, attendees cast live votes, and one winner walked away with $50K in services. Conversations flowed as fast as the cocktails, making it a night to remember.

The Coastal Community Fund, under Gazelle Capital launched in Tampa Bay and they’ve selected St. Petersburg-based Spontivly as their inaugural investment, a real-time analytics startup with strong roots in the local tech community. Early development of the platform was developed by iDelsoft, reflecting the type of regional collaboration the fund aims to accelerate.

The announcement follows another recent milestone Iteright, another iDelsoft client, a Tampa-based startup AI-powered platform that helps executives optimize product and tech investments, that secured funding from New World Angels last month.
